Cooke Barracks Guestbook

Welcome to the CookeBarracks.com Guestbook. 79% of 242 poll respondents said their time at Cooke was either "great" or "the best"; 14% reported "good". Only 7% reported "not so good", or "not good". Clearly, Cooke Barracks was a magical place and, perhaps, that's why so many people visit CookeBarracks.com. CookeBarracks.com was born October 2002 and is responsible for uniting many, many people separated years ago.

This is where those who served at Cooke find each other. You're invited to add your entry so others can find you. For the past ten years, lots and lots of reunions have been made via this Guestbook

Please note your post MUST INCLUDE your FIRST NAME, LAST NAME, and EMAIL ADDRESS or it will not post. Email addresses are hidden by the guestbook software and replaced with email links to prevent spamming and email harvesting. Said differently, your email address remains private unless you respond to a Guestbook entry. Only then will the person you wrote see your email address (but nobody else).

This guestbook includes a couple thousand entries over ten years. So, there's little point in searching page by page to locate someone. This is where Google is put to work. Here's how to search for a long lost friend:

Go to www.google.com and search for your friend exactly like you see in the line below (this includes the quotation marks and "plus sign" immediately next to 'cookebarracks.com'):

"First-name Last-name" +cookebarracks.com

Trust me, if your friend has posted an entry in the last decade, Google will return a direct link to the appropriate Guestbook page so you can email your friend.

Big Red One 4/16th Infantry 1984 -1987 "Ain't nothing to it but the do it". - Top Soldiers I can remember serving with: Littman, Rob; Atwater, Geoff; Wilson, John; Numbers, Daniel; Law, Richard E5/6; Thompson, (John); Griffin, Bernice (BJ); Ryan, (...); Sgt Long; Captain Moran; Maranda, (Wayne); Stapleton; Many more faces but recalling the names yet. Staff SGT. Kevin Callahan - He saved my life SGT. Richard Law - He saved my butt many times Memories: Yak Shack - I have never been able to find another meal like he had there. Crocodile - Yikes Wednesday night group Those who knew me then would probably never have guessed I would go on to building data centers; engineering computer systems for some of the largest financial markets globally. Serving in Germany with these brave men is still one of my greatest recollections of my life. You might say I grew up in Germany.

I was a JAG Captain stationed in Goppingen in 1965 to 1968.Tried many courts-martial case here and in Nuremberg. Col. Kates was the SJA. Some of best years of my life spent here. I lived in government housing directly across from the Officer's Club. I was surprised that the German people were so friendly to American soldiers. Thank you for this web site.

I was stationed at Cooke Barracks as XO of HHC 4th AD from about May or June 1968 to May 1969. I was CO of HHC, briefly, in spring of 1969, before leaving for flight school. Cooke Barracks was, in my opinion, the best assignment in the US Army. Alas, Vietnam was in full swing so our time there was limited.

Initially assigned with Charlie Company Weapons Platoon,1/26h Battalion (Blue Spaders), 1st Infantry Division (Forward). Drove APCs (11B) during October-December1974-1975 REFORGER Exercise. For 6 mos. until 1976, ordered by Bn LTC Cross to drive the Big Red One Division Chaplain(s) Father Joe Piskura and Chaplain Douglas Nelson all over Germany especially around Stuttgart, Ulm, Grafenveor, Hohensfel, Vilseck, Ansbach, and Shape Headquarters. Privileged to drive and maintain the old 1/4 ton "Willie" jeeps. Also honored to meet and drive (at the time) Blue Spader Bn Commander LTC George Joulwan (now retired 4 star General and former Shape Commander. Great and memorable time with my fellow Big Red One bothers and sisters over at Cooke Barracks. Really missed those days especially German-American week with the beers and bratwurst. Also missed the Volks Marches on the weekends and being adopted by a Germany family during Christmas.
