Cooke Barracks Guestbook

Welcome to the CookeBarracks.com Guestbook. 79% of 242 poll respondents said their time at Cooke was either "great" or "the best"; 14% reported "good". Only 7% reported "not so good", or "not good". Clearly, Cooke Barracks was a magical place and, perhaps, that's why so many people visit CookeBarracks.com. CookeBarracks.com was born October 2002 and is responsible for uniting many, many people separated years ago.

This is where those who served at Cooke find each other. You're invited to add your entry so others can find you. For the past ten years, lots and lots of reunions have been made via this Guestbook

Please note your post MUST INCLUDE your FIRST NAME, LAST NAME, and EMAIL ADDRESS or it will not post. Email addresses are hidden by the guestbook software and replaced with email links to prevent spamming and email harvesting. Said differently, your email address remains private unless you respond to a Guestbook entry. Only then will the person you wrote see your email address (but nobody else).

This guestbook includes a couple thousand entries over ten years. So, there's little point in searching page by page to locate someone. This is where Google is put to work. Here's how to search for a long lost friend:

Go to www.google.com and search for your friend exactly like you see in the line below (this includes the quotation marks and "plus sign" immediately next to 'cookebarracks.com'):

"First-name Last-name" +cookebarracks.com

Trust me, if your friend has posted an entry in the last decade, Google will return a direct link to the appropriate Guestbook page so you can email your friend.

Dear Friends, CookeBarracks.com, has been my passion for almost 15 years! That's a lot of smiles. And, it's been an absolute honor to meet every single one of you. But a couple days ago, I got a call from the family doctor with devastating news. So, it is with incredible difficulty, I announce this site will have to be taken down since I no longer will be able to maintain it. I will try to keep this site up for a few days so you can save whatever you like. I'm sorry to break this news like this but I have no other options. With Warmest Regards, --david

My first duty assignment was with the 4th Armored Div. I was with the Ist Bn 16th FA. In Schwbisch Gmuend. I met my wonderful wife from Goeppingen and we were married in 1964. She has been a part of my life now for 53 years. I spent 30 years in the army and retired as the 3d Infantry Division Command Sergeant Major. We still travel to Goeppingen 2 times per year.

My mother, named Gerlinde Höchner (born on the 14th of March 1948, Bavaria) was in a relationship with Antonio Funares, an American living and working in the Cooke Barracks. In 1969 or 1970 he moved for another job to Würzburg. It is assumed that afterwards he left for fighting in Vietnam.
If anybody has any information about my father, please do not hesitate and contact me. I would be so happy to know just what happend to and with him.

I was in the Scout Platoon for the 1/26 Infantry Battalion. This was my first assignment in my Army career of 20 years and by far the best. From our Army mission to the German hospitality and everything in between I remember my times at Cooke Barracks as some of the best in my life. As I write this I long for the times I had with the great soldiers of the Blue Spaders to the good beer and good times. The best platoon sergeant the Army ever knew SFC Aten and a friend of mine still today who was my squad leader Rusty Watkins were inspirations to me that I carry forever. I salute Cooke Barracks, the Blue Spaders and the US Army.

P.S. My german girlfriend I met at German American week on Cooke Barracks has been my lovely wife now for 35 years and we look forward to many more happy adventures together.
